MONICA TOSO (CHAIRMAN)  
A graduate of the University of Kansas, Monica has lived in the UK for over twenty years with her husband and three talented musical sons, supporting them at the Junior Birmingham Conservatoire. Monica is an independent teacher of Italian up to A level. She is passionate about ensuring that young people receive every possible opportunity to develop their musical and linguistic talents.   
   
   
   
   
ALISON TIMMS (MUSIC MANAGER)  
Having studied at Birmingham University and Goldsmiths College, Alison worked as a Director of Music for many years, as well as a cello tutor for Birmingham Music Service. In 2000, Alison was awarded Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year. In 2014 she stepped down from the classroom and the conducting podium to pursue new musical adventures.   
   
   
   
   
ALASTAIR MOSELEY FICE FCIWEM    
Alastair is honorary vice president of the Chartered Institution of Water and  Environmental Management. He lives in Bromsgrove, and, with other members of his musical family, helped form the community-based Orchestra of St John.    
   
   
   
   
HAZEL WHITEFOOT   
From the age of nine, Hazel has played the French horn. She graduated in Music and Economics and following twenty-one years as a peripatetic brass teacher with Worcestershire County Council she is now a highly respected freelance musician and teacher. Hazel has played with a range of professional and amateur ensembles in the Midlands area and is the current Chairman of both the Wyre Forest and the Chandos Symphony Orchestras. More recently she has performed as a soloist.   
   
   
   
   
TREVOR JONES   
A graduate of Birmingham University, an Associate of The Royal College of Music and a Fellow of Trinity College, London, Trevor has held a number of important posts in music education. He is currently Strategic Music Education Manager for Worcestershire County Council and Lead Officer of the Worcestershire Music Education Hub. Trevor continues to be an active conductor and has achieved many competition successes with championship bands both in the UK and abroad.    
   
   
   
   
GEOFF STRONG   
Geoff Strong supports the platform as a Governor of Bromsgrove School. He and his wife Sue are members of the Kidderminster Valentines Choir, organising concerts such as the Cancer Research UK Festival of Brass & Voices held at The Royal Albert Hall, and helping charities to raise funds.    

Applications

The 2018 Platform Competition takes place from 22nd to 24th February 2018 in Routh Concert Hall at Bromsgrove School. The closing date for all Competitor Applications is Sunday, 21st January 2018 at 16.00 hours GMT.
